10 Things learned from making tortillas...
1. Never use wheat flour to make tortillas, they taste horrible.
2. If you try to shape them with your hands you will end up with something more like pita bread than a tortilla.
3. Use a lot of salt... and when I say a lot I mean A LOT!!!
4. Keep one hand clean and on the bowl you are mixing it in. Sure its fun to get both hands all gumpy but you can't stick a gumpy hand back in the flour to grab more cause you added to much water.
5. Plates are not for smashing tortillas into shape.
6. Cups however can be used as a substitute for a rolling pin and work quite well for rolling the tortillas into shape.
7. Bowls can be used to cut out a perfect circular shape in your tortillas
8. One must be very quick when flipping tortillas on the fry pan because if you are too slow your finger tips will get burned.
9. Tortillas are a great thing to make with friends
10. Tortillas are really yummy!!!
